This new model is actually replacing the ID.4, and that\'s excellent news. The ID. Tiguan name makes it easier to understand where the model fits within the German automaker's lineup, both in terms of size and purpose.
The Tiguan name will therefore refer to gasoline, hybrid, or diesel versions depending on the market, while the ID. Tiguan name will be reserved for the 100% electric model.
Much More Than a New Name
The official images released by the German automaker show us a model that certainly bears some resemblance to the ID.4, but we can clearly see that there are several new design elements. Of course, the camouflage worn by the vehicle prevents us from taking an in-depth look at all the changes, but the German automaker's SUV appears to be quite promising from a styling standpoint.
Volkswagen clearly seems to be aiming for a more upscale model with the ID. Tiguan, which is very promising. There will also be more physical controls in response to customer demand, and that's excellent news.
For now, we don't know whether the model will use the same powertrain offered in the ID.4 or whether it will receive an entirely new setup.
We'll have to wait a few more days to learn more about the model, as its official unveiling is scheduled for October.
